But you’re driving to Miami, not the middle of nowhere. Besides, I need a pit stop every 2 hours anyway.

Yeah, that Miami example was just to illustrate. City driving uses more gas too. I usually fill up once a week, but this small tank means maybe twice a week, and I just can’t get used to that.
@Haze
They keep tanks smaller to save on weight, which helps MPG.
@Haze
Why buy a Land Cruiser if you’re commuting 600 miles a week? It’s like getting a dirt bike for road trips.

It’s about the look and feel. Plus, I live in a flood-prone area and drive on unpaved roads for work. But the range does annoy me.
@Haze
Maybe because it’s not a commuter car? It’s all about choosing the right tool for the job.

Land Cruiser does have a small tank, though. Any idea why?
@Haze
People driving aggressively and getting worse MPG tend to post about it. Those meeting EPA ratings aren’t complaining online.

I’ve been getting around 24 mpg. People can be dramatic.
Sounds like you think a smaller tank means paying more for gas. It’s just more stops, that’s all.

Yeah, it’s just the hassle of stopping more often. It’s like having an EV and dealing with range anxiety.
@Haze
The current Land Cruiser’s range isn’t much different from the old 5.7 model.
What’s ‘humiliating’ about a gas tank? A 17.9-gallon tank with 22 mpg should give you about 393 miles per tank.

Reality is these Land Cruisers just have small tanks. My 2008 Lexus LS with a 22-gallon tank gets 600 miles.
@Arlo
My LS430 only got 9 mpg in the city but over 25 on the highway.

Thanks for your comment, but no need to be rude. The 270-mile range is reported by other owners. The Land Cruiser has the smallest tank in its segment, so refilling more often is a drawback.
Toyota puts the fuel pump in the gas tank to cool it, so even at zero miles left, you still have about 4 gallons in the tank.

Don’t run the tank dry, especially in hot weather; it can burn out the pump.
@Amari
When it says zero, I can still put in about 14 gallons, so there’s a lot of reserve.
