I plan on getting a second-gen Tundra (14-18). I like the original setup, but I don’t like that there’s no CarPlay. Can I swap in a '21 setup to get CarPlay?
You might be able to do it with a different wire thingy, but trust me, that’s not what you want to do. Just get a good aftermarket one with wireless CarPlay. It sounds better, too.
Using an apostrophe after a number is for feet. Use it before a number for the year.

I know. I just did it to make it easier for me
Get a wireless CarPlay thingy. Plug it into the truck and leave it there.

That won’t magically add CarPlay. They didn’t add CarPlay until 2020. If it’s 2019 or earlier, you need to replace the unit to get CarPlay.
@Florence
There are tons of wireless CarPlay screens that you can buy to not replace the unit. I have one in my 2013.

You said to buy a wireless adapter. That means a USB adapter that turns your wired factory CarPlay into a wireless one. You didn’t say to buy an external CarPlay screen and stick it on the dashboard.
@Florence
The external CarPlay screen is a wireless adapter. Just because you see it differently doesn’t mean I didn’t mean that lol.

No one thinks a wireless CarPlay adapter is an external screen.
Wireless CarPlay adapter Amazon search: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wireless+carplay+adapter&crid=GM13RG3Z7Y9B&sprefix=wireless+%2Caps%2C188&ref=nb_sb_ss_ts-doa-p_1_9
I don’t see one external screen in the top results.
@Florence
You shouldn’t assume things. You’re arguing about a $40 CarPlay thingy because of what you think I meant. Think about your life lol.

Keep trying to win! Just admit you were wrong!

Left center of dash.
Beatsonic or Grom Audio have plug-and-play things to add Android Auto/CarPlay to the unit. It’s expensive, but it keeps the stock feel and does what it did before.
