$450/month lease on 2026 Toyota Crown Signia… with $14,500 down?!

It’s a Limited trim. Dealer took off $2k and got it down to $50k.

This seems like way too much money to put down on a lease. The lower payment is nice, but that kind of upfront cost feels insane. Thoughts?

Putting $14,500 down on a lease is absolutely nuts.

If the car gets totaled a week after you drive it off the lot, you lose that money. No equity, no refund.

DO NOT DO THIS.

Yeah, I told them no. You’re right.

Keep that money in the bank and let it earn interest. In my 15 years of selling cars, I never recommended putting that much down on a lease.

If you can afford to drop $14.5k upfront, you can afford the payments without a down payment.

@Dylan
Exactly! :v:

$14,500 due at signing? You could lease a Lexus for less.

We were just trying to get the payment to $450/month.

Do you need a Crown Signia? What are you looking for?

@Zadie
It’s actually for my parents. They like the look and the updated interior.

That still seems like a terrible deal.

For that kind of down payment + monthly cost, they could buy a $40k car outright. So why spend the same amount just to lease a $50k car for a few years?

I just saw a lease deal for a Grand Highlander XLE at $469/month with only $5k due at signing. A Mazda CX-90 mid-trim is under $450/month with $4k down. Both way better options.

This is Toyota’s way of telling you they don’t want to lease the Crown Signia.

They’re brand new, in limited supply, and dealerships are in ‘Take It or Leave It’ mode right now.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I told them no. Thanks, everyone.

Man, I’d take that $14,500 and find the nicest used Toyota that fits my needs.

It’s really nice not having a car payment.

Are you putting it down as a multiple security deposit?

People actually buy those?
