I’m looking to buy a car as a daily driver for the next 12-15 years. I’ve always loved the 80 Series Land Cruiser but never owned one. Here are my thoughts:
Reliability - Is this a good idea or am I dreaming?
Petrol or Diesel? - How thirsty is the petrol engine compared to diesel?
Maintenance - What can I expect cost-wise in terms of service and upkeep? I average about 50,000 km/year, mainly city driving. Need a vehicle with good boot space and not a ute.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Hell no. Buy a Honda Fit or something for daily driving and keep the cruiser for weekends.
I daily drove my 80 Series on a long commute. It’s incredibly reliable but fuel prices can be tough.

Daily driver for me too, but gas prices are a concern these days.

I daily drive mine but you might be better off with a 100 Series for that mileage.
If you can handle maintenance, it’ll be fine. Just know it’s an older vehicle and may require more attention.

The 1HD diesel engine is a solid choice for reliability and efficiency.
You’d likely be better off with a 100 Series. More reliable and less old.

An 80 Series as a daily driver isn’t practical with its age and maintenance needs. Consider a newer model.

I’ve had few issues with mine, but fuel economy is definitely a downside.

If you find one with a full maintenance history, it could be a reliable choice.

Daily driving an 80 is possible, but mostly they’re for enthusiasts now.

Too many miles to daily drive an 80. Consider a more modern vehicle.

Well-maintained 80 Series still drive well, but they require maintenance and patience.
