Well, shit…

This. It’s easier than you’d think. Just go to Crutchfield. If you run into any issues, just call them—they’ll walk you through it. If I can do it, anyone can.

Crutchfield really comes in clutch. They should consider rebranding lol. But for real, they’re solid. Knowledgeable staff and actually helpful, unlike the A to Z place.
@Devi
What head unit is that, bud? I like it.
@Devi
I carry that same Benchmade in my truck.

Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX.
I swapped mine out for a touchscreen with CarPlay. The stock radio is way too dated. Love almost everything about my old Tundra except the stereo.

You’d think at this price point they’d give us a better stereo.
@Rafe
Mine’s a 2012. From what I’ve seen, every Japanese car I’ve owned had a shit stereo—sports cars, trucks, all of them. But I’d rather have a reliable vehicle with a bad stereo and just upgrade it myself.
Bought a used Civic Si years ago—swapped the stereo in the parking lot right after I handed over the check. Same with a WRX. Knew it’d be bad, came prepared.
@TomHarris
This is my first experience with a newer Japanese vehicle. My wife’s Nissan SUV actually has a great stock stereo, even has a subwoofer.

Just got a 2010 and was surprised it synced right up with my phone.
Aftermarket for sure. Plenty of great CarPlay options.
Get the Dasaita 10.2-inch plug-and-play.
If you want a great-looking, perfect fit, but also infuriating, moody, and unpredictable head unit, spend $600 on a Dasaita!

Damn, hasn’t been good to you? I installed mine two months ago—so far, so good. But I keep seeing these bad reviews, and it’s always in the back of my mind lol.
@Beryl
I love it when it works, but it messes up in a different way every single day.
Send a text? It stops the music, and it won’t start again until I shut off the truck and restart it. Reverse camera works great, turns down the music like it should… but then it also randomly turns it down every 10 minutes for no reason.
Literally just now moved my truck from the driveway to the garage, and the button lights switched from orange to green—never seen that before.
Customer service is also a struggle, language barrier makes it tough to get real help.
@scofield
“Messes up in a different way every day” lmao… that’s not what I wanna hear. Good thing I got the extended warranty.
Tbh, I actually hate that it lowers the volume. Mine was lagging on Apple CarPlay, but updating my phone fixed it. Works fine so far. I set the buttons to glow all colors just for fun .

What don’t you like about it?
