Any SUV OTHER THAN a Land Cruiser?

My 06 I intended to drive until my kids took the keys away was totaled several months ago. I have been looking for a replacement LC since. I went with a friend to drive a Honda Pilot a few days ago and was amazed at how peppy and comfortable it was. I realized I haven’t given much thought to other cars in over 18 years. So my question is, if you were to buy any SUV, NOT a Land Cruiser, what would you buy, and why?

Ineos Grenadier if there’s no budget - it’s solid front axle, same motor in the Supra, and designed from the ground up to be an adventure vehicle.

So I went from a FJ55 Iron Pig to a 1986 Isuzu Trooper II to a 1998 Trooper to a 2014 Subaru Forester when my knee wouldn’t let me operate the clutch anymore. Amazing vehicle in the snow and for most easy off-road. But after a couple of years search, I bought my 2006 LX470 and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned.

I’ve had several friends recommend Subaru, but I was hesitant to consider one because my mom had an Outback that was a total money pit years ago. I’m trying to rethink some of my preconceived vehicular notions. My kids say I ‘might’ be getting too set in my ways as I age. Should I put a Forester on my test drive list?

GX460 would be a good option. I had one for 4 years and it was a great SUV. The V8 is super smooth and they are well built.

I test drove a Highlander a few days ago and thought it was not nearly as comfortable or quiet inside as my 100. Maybe I should just keep looking.

I’d say a Daihatsu Rocky with the 2.8 TD or a Suzuki SJ/Samurai long wheelbase. I like the simplicity and reliability of older 4x4s.
