Hi everyone… I’m getting this grinding sound during cold starts on my 2012 Corolla. It doesn’t really sound like the usual vvti gear rattle. I’ve posted a short clip so you can hear it. What do you all think could be causing this?
Kinda sounds like the starter isn’t pulling back fast enough from the flywheel.
Could be that or maybe the key is being held too long when starting.
That’s what I was thinking too. I might just try replacing the starter and see if that helps.
