Nice tip! I’ll try this tomorrow when it’s light out.

Just tried it. Opened the hatch, pushed the latch with my finger and it clicked. All the lights turned off right away. Pressed the button again and it closed just fine. Easy fix!
@JeffPatterson
I did the same thing. Just push the latch into locked position while it’s open. To reset, use your remote or the button inside. Works great.

This works perfectly. No need for a carabiner or anything. Just press the latch. Done.

Or just turn the music up loud enough to block the beeping sound lol
@JeffPatterson
I’ll probably keep a mini flathead back there to avoid greasy fingers lol
Other than the lights, what else drains the battery?

It keeps one of the control modules active the whole time.

Makes sense if it’s trying to keep stuff running.
Just unhook the battery.

Just the negative side is fine.

Doesn’t that mess up the backup camera lines and stuff? Had to reset mine once.

Yeah, but it’s a quick fix if you’re in a pinch.
My lights have switches on them to stop turning on with the door open. Might help some people out.

Yeah I already switched those off, but good tip!
The carabiner trick works for me on the manual one. Gonna test it on the auto lift too.

Might try it with the liftgate disabled.

There’s a tool called hatch latch for Subarus. Carabiner works on some cars but not all.
