Hi everyone, I need some help. I’ve been getting the VSC CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM message on my 2013 Toyota Venza V6. I took it to an auto parts store, but nothing came up on the scanner. Has anyone dealt with this before or have any ideas?
I’d start by checking the battery. A weak battery can sometimes mess with the computer system. You might want to look up Venza Gen 1 on toyotanation.com for more info.

Thanks! I just changed the battery, but the issue persists. It’s strange though—if I jump the car, it starts without problems.
Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. It’s nice to know there’s someone else still driving a 2013 V6 like mine. Old Vern is still going strong.

Definitely! I’m in the Facebook group too. It’s cool to see so many people still love their first-gen Venza.

They’re still pretty common in Eastern Canada. They were sold for a couple more years up there compared to down south.
Have you checked the starter cable? I’ve had that issue before. I just pop the hood and reconnect it every few months.
I’m having the same problem right now. All the warning lights came on, and the car just died on my wife. Luckily, it happened in our neighborhood. I replaced the old battery, but it didn’t help. No codes are showing up on the scanner either. I had the car towed to my mechanic, and after a week, he thinks it’s probably the computer, but he’s not sure. I’m considering taking it to the dealership, but I’m really hoping to avoid that.

Yeah, I’ve come across similar suggestions in my research. I’m hoping my mechanic can figure it out. If not, I might take it to a Toyota or Lexus-focused shop.

Here’s a link to an image I found on Toyotanation. One person had a similar issue, and it turned out to be the rear wheel sensor. They replaced it at a dealership for around $400.
@Quill
Thanks, I really appreciate the help! I’m hoping to get this figured out soon.
@Quill
Turns out it might be an alternator issue. I let the car sit with the engine on for a while, and the problem went away.

I’m having the same problem again after a few days. I think I need to get it scanned again to see what’s going on.

Sorry for the delay. The part finally came in today. I’m about to replace it and will let you know how it goes.

Just swapped out the Junction Block Assembly (82720-0T011). It was a bit tricky since the battery was dead, but after a while, it started. No more warning codes for now. Interestingly, the horn that stopped working months ago is back to normal. The only issue now is I need to crack the driver’s door open a bit to start the car with the push button.
@Quill
Thanks for the update! Glad you got it fixed. I’m hoping to get a resolution for my own issue soon. If not, I’ll have to take it to a Toyota Lexus-focused shop.
@Quill
Here are the current codes I’m seeing:
ABS/VSC/TRAC
C0200 - Right Front Speed Sensor
C1201 - Engine Control System Malfunction
C1231 - Steering Angle Sensor Circuit
C1441 - Performance Decline Of Brake Function
