Two months ago, I got into an accident in my 2017 Subaru Forester. It wasn’t my fault, so the other driver’s insurance covered the repairs. I won’t mention the name of the collision shop, but the body panel gaps are terrible!
On top of that, when I picked up my car, I found my AC line caps sitting in my cupholder, my dash cam tossed on the dash with the suction cup on the floor, and the wire ripped out of the headliner. After checking the footage, I saw they let my dash cam hang by the wire for a week while driving it around the lot—I have 21 videos as proof.
I left them a bad review, and they called me the next day, saying they wished I had just reached out and brought the car back.
Am I overreacting? Maybe I went a bit too far, but the car looks awful. Plus, finding parts of it in my cupholder and seeing what they did to my dash cam was frustrating. I even have two videos showing broken plastic pieces that were fine when I dropped it off.
Same thing happened to me with my old BMW 328. When I got it back, the panel gaps were terrible. No one at the shop seemed to care, so I left a bad review. They called me all upset and told me to bring it back. I did, and they actually fixed it right.
I felt a little bad, but at the same time, they should have done it right the first time. At least they got it right on the second try, lol.

Yeah, I get it. I’m the third owner of this car, and I’m also the third person to crash it. So it’s had one accident per owner. Insurance covered it, so I know they’re gonna cut costs with aftermarket parts. I wasn’t expecting perfection, but this was mostly cosmetic work. I’ve seen cars get completely wrecked and come back looking brand new.
@Skyler
Yeah, with that kind of history, it was never gonna be perfect. But those gaps are rough, and the other issues don’t help. I’d take it back and have them fix it as much as possible.

Had the same thing happen with my old Dodge Dart after an accident. The dealer’s body shop did a bad job, but I didn’t even think to question it back then.
I bought mine used and there’s a huge gap on the driver’s side. Someone told me it could be fixed by adjusting the rubber feet on the hood, but I don’t think I did it right.
Had 4,000 miles on mine when a turkey vulture took a nosedive and caused $7K in damage. Took forever to get fixed because they had to return some parts. My wife picked it up, drove it home, and I took one look and brought it back first thing in the morning. I was polite, and they did a second pass, which was better, but still not like factory quality. Makes me sick. Only good thing is I can fight my tax assessment next year.
