Anyone else feel their 2025 Camry acts weird on the highway?

Hey everyone, I recently got a 2025 Camry XSE. I really like it overall.

But there’s one thing that’s been bothering me. When I drive around 60–80 mph on big roads, especially ones with rain grooves, the car feels like it’s fighting me. It starts following the grooves and I have to work hard to keep it straight. It doesn’t feel safe at all.

I had the alignment checked and fixed at the dealer, but it didn’t help.

Has anyone else had this happen? My old 2012 Accord, my 2024 Highlander, and even my 2015 Odyssey don’t do this on the same roads.

Appreciate any ideas!

It’s 100% the tires.

I’ve had this happen with Bridgestone tires.

Yeah, Bridgestones are terrible. I swapped them out for Michelin Primacy Tour on my 2024 XLE at 30,000 miles, and the car drives so much better now.

@Casey
Wow, it’s frustrating to spend this much on a car and still end up with bad tires.

Yep, got those wonderful Bridgestones :grimacing:

Sounds like a tire issue. Most likely is.

Yeah, pretty sure it is!

They’re using those grooves on roads more and more. Try riding a motorcycle on them!

But yeah, in your car, it’s all about the tires.

It’s your tires and wheels. Low-profile tires and stiff rubber cause this tramlining feeling.

I switched to 16-inch wheels with Michelin CrossClimate 2s, and that fixed it.

If you’re not used to sport-style low-profile tires like the ones on the XSE, they’ll definitely tug on grooved or uneven roads. That’s pretty normal for that kind of tire.

Adding my vote for tires. Some just don’t work well on grooved pavement.

Try changing the tire model or brand. It sounds like a tread pattern thing.

Mine came with the stock Continentals and it does the same thing. I’ve gotten used to it. Doesn’t feel dangerous, just takes you by surprise the first time.

Yeah, jarring is a good way to describe it.

Yep, it’s the tires. They’re not horrible, but they’re not exactly great either.

Same thing on my 2025 XSE with Bridgestones. Luckily I only drive on roads like that going to the airport, which I do maybe a few times a year. So I just ignore it.

Exactly! It rides perfectly fine everywhere else.

Had this same issue on my 2013 Camry SE. The dealer didn’t believe me until I got the service manager to go on a test drive with me on the highway.

He finally saw what I was talking about, but Toyota’s only answer back then was ‘try not to drive on that road.’

@Vic
Well, that’s not very helpful :sweat_smile:
