Anyone else find the volume display super annoying?

I swapped my head unit for an ‘Idoing’ and, while it has its quirks, the volume display doesn’t take over the whole screen like this one!

I’m less bothered by that than the fact that you can’t see your speed limit on the display while you’re on a call.

That’s so frustrating!

Yep, the worst part is not being able to change anything else until the volume display goes away.

Subaru head units are notoriously bad. Upgrade it through Crutchfield.

A lot of things on the console are dumb, like how it automatically turns on when you start the car.

Yes! You have to wait for it to fade before you can touch anything.

I have a 2018 Touring, and the radio is really showing its age. I’ve started using a small hammer to make sure my touch commands are strong enough to register while I’m driving.

Yes! It’s always in the way when I’m trying to look at something else.

We all agree it hasn’t aged well. Subaru hasn’t updated this head unit in over 6 years. If you’re fed up with it, swap it out for a better third-party option. Just make sure it’s one that makes you happy.

Same here, can’t stand it!

It’s funny what little things people find intrusive.

I hate that all warning sounds lower the music volume. This is the first car I’ve owned that does that. Why can’t they just play the sound with the music still on?

I kind of like that the warnings lower the music so I can hear them better.

@Holland
It gets annoying when the GPS dings for every little thing. Sometimes you barely get to hear the song at all, especially when there’s a lot of road warnings.

You can adjust the Google Maps notifications to only give you important alerts.

I kind of like it because I don’t have to look for it. I can see it in my peripheral vision while using the steering wheel controls.

Why do you need to see it when you can hear it? Plus, it blocks the screen.

Are we really staring at the console while driving? It disappears after a few seconds. Big first-world problem, lol.

When using Waze or Google Maps, yeah…
