So, my ABS and traction control lights came on and stayed solid. Also, the check engine light came on too, but the cruise light is flashing. My Subaru Forester (2010) seems to be running fine though… anyone know what’s up with this?
Hey, sounds like a common thing when the check engine light comes on. It basically disables everything else like the cruise control. Check your gas cap—if it’s loose, it can trigger lights. Otherwise, you might need to get the codes read.
@Freddie
Good call! I’ll check the gas cap first. If it’s not that, I’ll head to a parts store for a code check. Thanks!
Same thing happened to me. My problem was low oil. Once I topped it up, the lights went away, but they came back when the oil was low again. Check your oil levels too!

Oh interesting, my oil was low yesterday. I’ll check that again just in case. The lights did come back on after I drove home, even though I topped it up.

If your lights came back on, it might be worth getting the timing solenoids checked. Those can be affected by low oil, and if both are going, it’s rare but possible.
IDK about the Subaru stuff, but whenever I get random lights like that, I just unplug the battery for a few minutes to reset everything. Worked for my Toyota lol.

Lol I’ve done that too! It works sometimes, but if it’s a sensor issue, the lights just come back on.

Haha, I might give that a shot if all else fails! Thanks for the tip.
If you had the oil low for a bit, it could’ve done some damage to the solenoids. Best to get it checked out by a mechanic just in case.

Yeah, I’m starting to think I might need to. Hopefully it’s not too expensive to fix!
FYI, my lights went off after a few days on their own. Sometimes they just need time after you fix the root cause.

True! Sometimes the system takes a while to reset itself after an issue is resolved.
