Anyone else prefer driving in Eco Mode?

Lately, I’ve been keeping my third-gen Tundra in Eco Mode, and I’m loving it. Does anyone else feel the same way? I think it makes the transmission feel smoother, and I don’t notice much difference in power or speed compared to Normal Mode. For me, it’s a more relaxed ride, especially when I’m not in a rush.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else stick with Eco Mode too?

I use Eco Mode a lot too… saves so much gas!

I actually prefer Sport Mode, personally.

Yeah, I’m all about trying to save as much gas as possible.

Not sure this is the best truck for that though.

No way, it’s just you! :joy: Kidding, but Eco Mode feels so sluggish to me, like the gas pedal’s stuck in mud.

I drive in Eco Mode a lot during winter because the softer pedal response is nice. These trucks have plenty of torque, so if I’m in regular or Sport Mode, I tend to spin out in the snow. Eco Mode feels smoother in the cold, but Sport Mode is definitely more fun when I want that extra push.

I was in Eco Mode since I bought it, getting around 13.3 mpg for 8000 miles. Switched to Standard Mode recently, and now I’m at 14.3 mpg in less than 1000 miles.

Honestly, I don’t pay much attention to the difference… I only notice when the gauge color changes!

Same here…Eco Mode most of the time. But when I’m showing off, it’s all Sport Mode and pedal to the metal! So much fun!

I drive in Eco until I have less than 75 miles left on the tank, then I switch to Sport…gotta give those turbos some action!

For some reason, I actually get better mileage in Standard Mode :man_shrugging:. Probably just my driving style.

Might be a mindset thing, but nothing wrong with that!

I drive an old Geo Metro, so it’s basically always in Eco Mode, lol.

Eco Mode all the way, especially for commuting.

To each their own, right?

Yep.

Wait, there’s an Eco Mode?

What’s the real difference between Eco and Standard? Does Eco wear out the engine faster?

Nah, you’re not alone. I use Eco all the time for errands and commuting. When I got my 2024 SR5 4x4 Sport with the twin-turbo 5.5, they told me to use Sport Mode sometimes to keep the engine healthy. I also make sure to use 4x4 at least every three months and tow something a couple of times a year. Toyota said it keeps the engine running well. A lot of people buy trucks and drive them like sedans. So definitely take it out in Sport Mode now and then!
