Lately, I’ve been keeping my third-gen Tundra in Eco Mode, and I’m loving it. Does anyone else feel the same way? I think it makes the transmission feel smoother, and I don’t notice much difference in power or speed compared to Normal Mode. For me, it’s a more relaxed ride, especially when I’m not in a rush.
Is it just me? Or does anyone else stick with Eco Mode too?
I drive in Eco Mode a lot during winter because the softer pedal response is nice. These trucks have plenty of torque, so if I’m in regular or Sport Mode, I tend to spin out in the snow. Eco Mode feels smoother in the cold, but Sport Mode is definitely more fun when I want that extra push.
I was in Eco Mode since I bought it, getting around 13.3 mpg for 8000 miles. Switched to Standard Mode recently, and now I’m at 14.3 mpg in less than 1000 miles.
Nah, you’re not alone. I use Eco all the time for errands and commuting. When I got my 2024 SR5 4x4 Sport with the twin-turbo 5.5, they told me to use Sport Mode sometimes to keep the engine healthy. I also make sure to use 4x4 at least every three months and tow something a couple of times a year. Toyota said it keeps the engine running well. A lot of people buy trucks and drive them like sedans. So definitely take it out in Sport Mode now and then!
