Would the stock BRZ transmission work with an EJ? Not sure which one would last longer either way.

If you can find an STI 6-speed, that’s probably your best bet. But from my experience, the 5-speed goes out first.
That said, the 5-speed might actually be better for drifting since the longer gearing lets you stay in first and second longer.

And you get a better 0-60 time since you don’t have to shift as much, plus the car is lighter.

Yeah, the BRZ trans can work, but you’d have to modify either the block or trans to mount the starter. Not really worried about longevity, though. This thing is gonna be driven hard.
