Had to get my windshield replaced and was not expecting it to be this pricey. Wanted to see what others have paid and if insurance covered it.
Check with your insurance. Full coverage usually takes care of it, and some plans have a $0 deductible for glass.

Just picked up a 2025 Forester and added $0 deductible glass coverage. A lot of people on this forum suggested it.

My wife mentioned that too. Probably should have looked into it sooner.
@Rylan
If you don’t already have it, definitely check with your agent. Forester windshields seem to crack more than other cars. The angle and thinner glass make them more prone to damage. Plus, replacing one with EyeSight isn’t cheap. It’s usually just a few extra bucks a year on your policy.
@Amelia
I’ll reach out to my agent and see if I can add it. Appreciate the advice.

Yeah, good advice. Love my Forester, but I’ve had terrible luck with the windshield. I’ve replaced it four times in five years. Thankfully, my insurance allows two glass claims per year.
Used Safelite last year on my 2020 Forester. Cost me around $1,000. EyeSight still works fine, and no issues with chips since.
Had mine done at a local shop. Only paid $50 since my insurance covers glass with a deductible. They also calibrated the EyeSight system.
Same thing happened to me last year. My insurance covered it with a $150 deductible (Amica).
If you’re in the 757 area, check with Danny’s Glass. My insurance covered it, and they did a great job on my 2019 Forester, which seemed to go through windshields way too often.
Make sure they order the Subaru-branded glass. The EyeSight system doesn’t work well with aftermarket windshields.

Good to know… appreciate the tip.
The worst part is I just finished paying off the car this week. Now this happens.
Forester windshields are terrible. Subaru should be forced to replace them with better quality ones at no cost.
My insurance covered it, just had to pay $150 out of pocket. No change to my premium.
Quick update… the crack spread all the way to the top. Insurance covered it, but we had to pay the deductible. Gonna look into adding a $0 glass deductible plan.
Safelite used OEM glass and calibrated EyeSight. Everything seems fine now. Thanks for all the advice.
