Anyone heard about the ethanol mandate being reduced?

just saw some news about the ethanol mandate getting cut back. does that mean gas prices will go down, or is this just one of those things that won’t change much? kinda curious what this actually means for us.

yeah, i read about this too. from what i understand, less ethanol in fuel could mean slightly lower prices, but it depends on other factors like crude oil costs.

hmm, so does this mean we’ll get better mileage too? i heard ethanol reduces fuel efficiency.

@Denim
yeah, pretty much. ethanol has less energy than gasoline, so cutting back on it might slightly improve mpg.

@Denim
but wouldn’t some engines be affected? i thought certain cars are designed to run on higher ethanol blends.

i wonder how this affects older cars. some of them weren’t built for high ethanol content, so maybe this is good news for them?

that’s actually a good point. older cars run better on pure gasoline, so less ethanol might help avoid issues like clogged fuel systems.

does this mean e85 will be less available? some folks rely on it because it’s cheaper.

probably not right away, but if they keep reducing ethanol requirements, it could mean fewer stations carrying e85.

i read somewhere that this could actually increase gas prices in the long run. something about supply chains being affected. anyone else hear that?

yeah, some experts say refineries might need to adjust their processes, which could raise costs before prices settle.

wonder how this affects the environment… isn’t ethanol supposed to be better for emissions?

technically, yeah. ethanol burns cleaner than regular gas, but producing it has its own environmental impact.
