I had the same problem, but it wasn’t Rain-X. The previous owner used tap water, and the float inside got stuck because of limescale buildup. I did the vinegar thing for a couple of months, and it worked eventually.
Same issue with my 2018 Forester. The light has been on for months. The problem seems to be the sensor in the tank, and it’s hard to find just the sensor. Replacing the whole tank costs around $80, plus labor.
It’s a hassle because you have to remove the front end of the car to get to it. I’ve been putting it off.

Same here. I’ve just been living with it, but I’m thinking of unplugging the sensor now. Tried the vinegar trick but no luck.

I’m unplugging mine tomorrow. Hopefully, that does the trick.
