Anyone upgraded the audio on the 2025 SE?

I swapped out the stock dash speakers (didn’t get the JBL package), and wow… huge difference. Now I’m thinking about changing the door woofers, but taking the door apart looks kinda scary. Has anyone here done it? Or should I just pay someone to do it?

The front doors are actually pretty simple to work with. I’ve taken mine off five times this week trying to fix rattling and buzzing after installing new speakers.

Check out this video — it’s for the 2018–2024 Camry, but the steps are the same for the 2025 models.

@Bryn
Totally agree. Super easy job. Just pop off a few trim pieces, take out three screws, and the whole door panel comes off. Speaker’s held in with a few screws too. Took me under 10 minutes.

I have an XSE with the 6-speaker setup. What speakers did you end up using?

I went with the Pioneer TS-A879 for the dash.

Hope you used the built-in crossover in the Pioneer harness. The dash and door speakers are wired in parallel, and if you don’t use a crossover, the lower resistance could stress out the head unit amp.

@Darior
I got a separate harness from Crutchfield.

So no crossover then… poor speaker. And that poor head unit.

I’m getting an XSE delivered this Sunday. I really wanted the JBL upgrade, but it only comes with the $3k premium package that includes the panoramic roof. I’ve read too many issues about that roof, so I skipped it. I’ll just let a local shop handle the audio install. I used to help the Circuit City Road Shop guys, but that was a long time ago. These newer cars are full of sensors and tech—I’m not trying to mess up a $40k car. Same place will also do the tint, ceramic coating, or paint protection film. Hopefully, I can get a package deal.

If you buy from Crutchfield, they include a step-by-step guide for removing the door panels.

There are some threads on toyotanation.com for the 2018–2024 Camrys, which should be really close. I think someone already did a speaker upgrade on a 2025, but I don’t remember if they showed the full teardown.

@Oran
Yep, I bought mine from Crutchfield. The dash speakers were super easy. Pulling off the whole door card is a little more nerve-wracking though.

Which speakers did you get?

Check out Crutchfield. I got the Pioneer TS-A879 for the dash and I’m considering Focal ICU 165s for the doors.

What speakers did you go with?

How much better did it sound after the upgrade? More bass? Clearer?

Mostly better mids and highs. Sound is tighter and cleaner overall. The Camry’s default setup doesn’t handle bass that well, so upgrades help. I’m going slow with this though so I don’t spend a ton all at once.

@Raj
Nice, I’ve been thinking about upgrading too and the ones you mentioned are within my budget. Appreciate the info!

The stock door speaker is 7" and most replacements are only 6.5"—which is kind of a step backward. A lot of people go with coaxials that don’t really match the original size or performance. Look into 18cm woofers from Hertz, Kenwood, or Alpine—or even 20cm ones. Those are a solid starting point. Just remember, if you like your music loud, a better door woofer might need a bit more power and a crossover that fits well with whatever you’re using in the dash.
