Best way to black out chrome grill on 2018 Toyota Tundra without breaking the bank?

Looking for the best value option to black out this chrome grill and surround. OEM is so expensive, and the kits I’ve found on eBay for around $200 don’t include the hardware to connect the TSS sensor (it’s a 2018 model). Any suggestions?

I wouldn’t recommend PlastiDip for those parts; it tends to chip in high wear areas like the front end. Consider overlays for the bumper end caps and grill surround/bulge. You can buy a new grill insert and relocate the TSS sensor or use a bracket to adapt it to the new grill.

I just bought a 2021 Limited with the same grill. I ordered a color-matched grill from eBay. My plan is to keep the 2021 limited grill and swap the color-matched surround and bulge. Also considering replacing the chrome bumper end caps with ABS black ones, leaving only the door handles as chrome for me.

I have the same setup. Already blacked out the bumpers with a Rough Country install. Can’t stand the chrome though, it looks terrible.

Around $250. Figured I could return it if the paint or fitment isn’t good.

Avoid PlastiDip or wraps if longevity is a concern. Look into RAAIL installers for a durable sprayable option. Check out Ecological’s Bumpershellz/Chromestoppers TUN10 for a discount:

For a PRO grille insert, consider these:
High Country Offroad - Tundra TRD Pro Grille
Taco Vinyl - Tundra PRO Grille
Ensure compatibility with your sensor.

For a lasting solution, either stick with OEM or have a good body shop paint the chrome. Paying more upfront for OEM or quality paint will ensure it looks good for the truck’s lifetime.

Consider PlastiDip as a temporary option. It can look good and protect what’s underneath. You might want to try it before investing in a new grill like honeycomb or TRD Pro style.

PlastiDip, when done right, looks great and protects well. It’s worth a try with your current setup before spending on a new grill. It’s a quick job with just a couple of rattle cans.

What about for a 2017 without the TSS? Not looking to use PlastiDip.

Get the TRD Pro grill or consider vinyl wrapping.

Rhino line it all.
