I have two kids—one close to being in a booster seat and the other is out of one. I mainly need a car to get to and from work and one that’s good on gas because I love road trips. I’m looking at the 2023-2024 models.
I’m 5’10" and around 345 pounds (working on dropping weight). I’ve driven a Toyota CH-R before and was fine with it.
The main question: is there any real difference between the Camry and Corolla besides size? What would you choose?
EDIT: I need a car ASAP. The Corolla (2024 model) is available next week, but the Camry (2024 model) won’t be available until March. What should I do?
Camry. The Corolla might feel tight for you and the kids, especially as they grow. The Camry’s backseat is much more spacious and better for road trips.

I did fine with a Honda Civic years ago. I’ll test drive both just to be sure.
I have three kids, including one in a booster and another in a rear-facing seat, and we manage fine in a 2025 Camry. A Corolla could work, but the Camry will be more comfortable long-term, especially on road trips. Consider a hybrid if possible—no need to charge it unless it’s a plug-in hybrid.
Corolla. I’m 5’8" and was 290 pounds at one point, and the Corolla was perfectly fine. I also have a friend who’s 6’ with two toddlers, and they’re happy with theirs.
Consider a Sienna. It’s ideal for families, with features like a built-in vacuum and rear entertainment screens. Plus, hybrids charge themselves—you don’t need to plug them in unless it’s a plug-in hybrid.
