Can I get your thoughts on this offer…

Out the door price 41,700

Carfax shows it was in an accident (small gap in the rear panel) but the dealer has a body shop on-site and will fix the paint damage while keeping the same price or they can reduce it by $500.

What do you think?

Update: I appreciate all the comments. I’ve decided to pass on this one.

Is that in Canadian dollars? Seems high if it’s in USD. In Canada, they go for around that, so I would expect it to be cheaper in the US.

I wish it was in CAD… it’s in USD.

@Mickey
I bought mine brand new for around that price out the door.

I was just offered 36k for a trade-in on a 2023 Limited with stargaze. 16k miles. Looks new.

This price seems way too high. I’d be cautious of the clean Carfax.

I guess I need to think this over too.

What were you planning to buy?

@EmilyWilson
My wife wants a new car, so we were checking prices for trading hers ('20 Rav4H XSE) and the Venza (which was supposed to be hers) just to see what’s out there.

We drove a Crown Signia that she liked. Also looking at a RX350h and possibly a Land Cruiser.

@Dylan
Nice choice, the Lexus is a solid option, but I hear they can consume a lot of fuel.

The 350h is efficient. 36 combined. The Land Cruiser though…

I just bought a brand new 2024 XLE last month for 39k out the door. I know yours is a higher trim, but that still seems a bit much.

Just to give you some context. I got mine two months ago, a 2024 Venza Limited model with 3k miles, panoramic moonroof, rear tow hitch from Toyota, and a clean Carfax for $41,000. Out the door price was $45k. It took a lot of negotiating and a month to find a deal that worked.

@brunomars
I wanted the 2023 model because it has the new infotainment and digital gauge cluster. For reference, I bought this in NYC.

Sounds like I need to keep searching. That’s a great deal. How are you enjoying your Venza?

@Mickey
Yeah, just take your time and do some research on the market and what prices are. Don’t hesitate to walk away if the deal doesn’t feel right. I’m really enjoying it; I’ve already put 5k miles on it from family trips. My only issue is I wish the back seats had a bit more legroom. I can go around 500 miles on a tank, plus have 70-80 miles left when I fill up. It’s really comfortable and quiet for long trips, and the MPG in the city is impressive.

@brunomars
Quick question, does the rear tow hitch interfere with the hands-free liftgate?

It usually works fine, but I’ve noticed it sometimes doesn’t respond unless you kick it exactly where the sensor is. There are times I find myself standing there kicking until the liftgate opens.

@brunomars
Thanks for that! The used Venza I’m considering has a rear tow hitch, so I wanted to check since someone mentioned it might disable the hands-free option. We have a Rav4 with hands-free liftgate, and it works pretty much the same way you described, even without anything in the way… so it’s probably just a Toyota thing.

@Freddie
Yeah, I believe the Toyota hitch works with it, but I heard if it’s an aftermarket hitch, you might have to disable it because those can block the sensor completely.

I thought the Venza couldn’t tow. I was told that was one of the improvements with the Crown Insignia?
