I have a 2015 Toyota Corolla S, and I have installed a cold air intake along with a plug-in tune. Even with these modifications, the car will not go past 118 mph—it slows itself down once it reaches that speed. Is there a way to remove the speed limiter?
This sounds like a joke, but if you are serious, a cold air intake and an eBay tune will not make any real difference. If anything, you might have lost power.
If you are actually trying to go over 118 mph, make sure your tires are rated for that speed. One of the main reasons speed limiters exist is because standard tires are not designed for ultra-high speeds.
I figured as much. I was just curious to see if it was possible. I use this car for autocross, so I am not going anywhere near that speed anyway.
