I actually got a decent discount, but it took some back-and-forth. The key is being patient and acting like you’re willing to walk away. They won’t give a better deal unless they think you might leave.

Fair enough. Any tips for negotiating when there’s high demand and low inventory?

I just kept pushing. I had a few different dealerships competing, and I made sure they knew it. Also, waiting until the end of the month helped. Sales managers get more flexible when they need to hit their targets.

That makes sense. Being ready to walk away is probably the best strategy. End of the month seems like the right time to go in.
