The RAV4 might be a touch peppier for city driving, but the Outback with its standard all-wheel drive could be your off-road champion. Both are reliable and comfy, but the Outback might have more cargo space. The RAV4 might save you money on gas, especially with the hybrid option. I find the OB more fun to drive, especially the XT, cheaper with similar features, more cargo space, less road noise, and superior AWD. Yet, the RAV4 likely excels in long-term reliability and lower lifetime costs, offering hybrid and plug-in options.
