Could this tacoma go off road?

This is Tacoma Sr 2021 4x4. It might be a dumb question but how much potential does this truck have off road? We are talking about gravel roads and dirt roads. Not the crazy stuff you see on YouTube. I know this truck has street basic tires so does having the truck as a 4x4 model a joke? What can make this truck more have off road potential? Off road tires?

Ohh 100% brotherrr, go rip anywhere ya feel ya want, basic stock Tacoma 4wd is meant for a whole lot more than most folks feel comfortable doing

Hell yeah. They’re capable trucks even without lift tires and $8k in overland mods. 4x4 and good line choice will get you very far

It’s worth mentioning tires are probably the most worthwhile investment in a single modification. Even in the stock size, a more aggressive tire with better puncture resistance is huge for off-roading.

Based. Watch out though, you will upset the Tacoma bros.

Everything can go off road…at least once

Brother these trucks love the dirt. I’ve taken my ol sr 2x4 with bald tiers into the outback and had the most amazing time lol. Once drifted an entire dirtbike track in the rain, one of my fondest memories with it🥹. Just air down and you’ll be fine, but some recovery gear if you want to go alone because you will eventually get stuck lol

@Smart
I would wear out those street tiers till you do some research, you can kit these bad boy out to do whatever level of off-roading you want, the key factor is cashh moneyy. Cheapest effective upgrade is indeed tiers tho! Although I’d recommend some suspension work aswell

Yes, I have a '21 loaded out premium and I’ve never had to use the e locker or put it in anything other than 4hi.

Tires make the difference, and if you need it, ground clearance with lift and or larger tires.

Go have fun, and just be aware it’s not bulletproof but it’s very capable.

A set of BFG KO2s, even stock, will transform the truck.

New Ko3s are out! They look sick

Yes, a good set of tires is all you need. Though having some basic recovery gear and knowing how to use it is highly recommended (for all types of vehicles).

My '19 SR 4x4 with the I4 has done some fun adventures with TRD OR’s just fine.

I have a 22SR ac four-cylinder 4 x 4 and I have Michelin defender LTX tires and I hunt and fish and go off road all the time … you can get pretty far off road in stock configuration…

Hey man, it’s good to ask especially if you are new to the truck game. The answer is, this truck is wildly capable right out the box, and yes while the tires could be a limiting factor today on advanced terrain… fire roads and even more should be cake for that beauty. Ease into it and have fun, before you know it you’ll be hucking shit you had no idea was possible.

Tires are #1.

Shocks are #2.

Additional armor underneath #3.

Lift #4.

Just my opinion, but that’s the order of importance for making your truck more capable off road.

I think 1.5 would be just initial armor like a skidplate or smthn, that way if you hit somthing you shouldn’t be going over you know about it, abd your able to reasses without wrecking done underbelly

@Clarkson
Yeah, you could argue that. The sr/sr5 skid isn’t much more than a foliage deflector.

With enough effort any vehicle can be off road.

Seriously a Subaru or RAV4 could handle dirt or gravel roads. I routinely take my girlfriend’s Pilot on dirt roads.
