The best off-road car is the one you don’t mind beating the ever loving shit out of
You can drive any vehicle off road. The question is, how far can it go?
If you’re only doing gravel roads and dirt roads, those are still roads and your current tires will be sufficient. If you get into unmaintained roads and some trails, I would get some All terrains. I wouldn’t go full mud terrain unless you don’t travel much on roads and highways. It’s a balancing act. Generally, the more off-road capable, the worse they are on road. But really figure out what your conditions require.
some ppl should just stick to Subarus
If my 2wd ranger can go offroad, i bet my left nut that 4x4 has more capabilities than mine. It doesn’t take much to take that truck offroad. You’ll be surprised where a stock truck with 4x4 can take you.
Had a 2014 TRD with a 3” lift and 285 KO2’s. This truck was easily the most capable bush truck I ever owned. Its size was perfect for smaller quad/side by side trails. Mud or snow i was generally unable to get the thing stuck. Before I put the tires and lift on it, I still pushed its limits frequently and never had any issues whatsoever.
Not sure about the newer ones, but those things are unkillable and beasts in the bush. As long as you’re okay with a bit of added pinstriping. Enjoy the truck, it’ll take you places that will surprise you.
Tacos like roll on and wear dirt.
With the correct tires and suspension, ANY Tacoma can go offroad. With those tires and suspension, not really.
