Drive Start Control Malfunction – Any Advice?

Hey folks,

I got a “Drive Start Control Malfunction” warning on my car today, and I’m not sure what to do next. Has anyone dealt with this before? What steps should I take to fix it or get it checked out?

Appreciate any tips or advice!

I encountered this error, and it turns out to be wires chewed by mice. I had to file a claim with my insurance (which falls under comprehensive for being considered an “act of God”). I still have to wait for the claim adjuster to see it, but apparently, without insurance, it could be over $10k.

Disable the traction control, then turn off the engine and restart it. If that doesn’t work, turn off all assist features, shut off the engine, let it reset, and then restart it.

I had this issue with my 2020 Corolla a while back. It turned out to be a faulty brake switch. Fortunately, the dealership fixed it easily.
