Hi everyone, I’m super excited because my new car is coming on Tuesday! I managed to catch a glimpse of it outside the garage today and can’t wait to get it in my hands soon.
I’ve got a few questions for the community:
Is there any way to tell from the outside if the engine is the 2.0 or 1.8? The Toyota brochure says my setup only comes with the 1.8, but both my contract and the car’s specs say it’s got the 2.0, which is what I wanted.
Since this setup doesn’t come with the 360 camera, and it doesn’t have cameras under the mirrors either, does anyone know if a Toyota dealer can upgrade it?
Any tips for a new C-HR owner? What’s good to know?
I’ve got the 2.0 model too, and no, there’s no way to tell the engine size just from looking at it unless it’s the AWD-i version, which is marked with a badge. Are you asking if others can tell from outside, or do you want to check it yourself?
If it’s for yourself, I think the 1.8 has the 12V battery under the hood, but the 2.0 battery is in the back.
@Sergio
It’s just been bugging me since I bought it, so I was trying to figure it out before Tuesday haha!
Thanks for the battery tip—first thing I’ll check when I get it .
I’ll give my thoughts since I’ve driven the 2.0 AWD-i model for about 6000km. Had the 2023 version before, and honestly, the AWD and slightly stronger engine are the biggest improvements.
But I do feel like the interior quality dropped… feels a lot more plasticky now. And the road noise above 100km/h is way louder than before, almost like they cut down on insulation to save weight.
Handling’s still good though, and fuel use averaged 5.2l/100km on my trip from Swedish Lapland to Helsinki. It’s great for city driving or occasional long trips, but on highways, you’ll need the music turned up to drown out the noise.
@Frey
Really? I always thought the Crown was the replacement since they looked kind of similar when the C-HR stopped. Maybe I was just disappointed because I was planning to get a newer model right when they stopped selling them here.

Is this the GR Sport version? And how much did it set you back?
Nope, it’s not the GR Sport—plus it’s only front-wheel drive. With all the extras and VAT, it ended up costing around 36k, though the base price was set at 42.
