I called Toyota to ask about 2 new tires and 1 rim, and the quote they gave me seemed way too high. What do you all think is a fair price for this?
Check out Toyota’s parts website. That quote seems like a huge markup. What kind of car is this for? Compare the price of the rim there, then look up tire prices on sites like Tire Rack. Unless it’s for a Tundra with premium wheels, $1700 is way too much.
@Zeek
Maybe it’s for a Sequoia or something bigger, but no way it’s a Rav4.
Here’s what I found: a wheel like yours is $180 on Amazon, and Michelin CrossClimate2 tires go for $242 each. That’s $1148 total if you get 4 new tires and a wheel. Balancing and alignment would add a couple of hundred bucks. Definitely less than $1700.
@Keegan
Totally agree on the CrossClimates. They’re excellent tires!

Yep, I third this. Best tires I’ve ever used.

Adding my voice to the CrossClimate hype—they’re amazing.
@Keegan
I put CrossClimate2s on my Sienna last year for just over $1k installed. They were a lifesaver during a snowy commute recently.
@Keegan
I only use CrossClimate2s now. They’re worth every penny.
@Keegan
Be careful with cheap wheels. They tend to break sooner rather than later.
@Keegan
I wouldn’t trust non-OEM wheels from Amazon.
@Keegan
That’s not an OEM wheel, FYI.
@Keegan
I have these tires and regret getting them. They’re loud on the highway. Traction is good, but the noise drives me crazy.
@Keegan
What car is this even for? How can people suggest tires and rims without knowing that?
@Keegan
Wheels off Amazon? Are you sure about that?
If this is for a 2019 Camry SE with 19-inch wheels, it could add up. Low-profile tires are usually $250-300 each, so about $600. Add $600-$700 for the rim, $150 for alignment, and labor costs, and you’re around $1550 before taxes. Not far off from the quote.
Get quotes from other shops. Without knowing your car’s details, no one can tell if that price is fair.
Update: It’s for a 2019 Toyota Camry SE.

$1700 for one wheel and two tires on a Camry is insane. You could get a full set of four wheels and tires for less.

It’s the dealership’s way of selling you ‘peace of mind.’ Some people stick to dealer service no matter what.
