I had a 2003 Tacoma in north Georgia, bought it in 2005, and had it until 2007. Can’t say exactly which hurricanes it was, but I remember the location well. I worked in downtown Atlanta and lived in Jasper, so my commute was rough. The shortest route home was 575 to hwy 53, old mill white, to Cove Rd, and then home. One time on Old Mill White, it rained heavily, and visibility was barely beyond the hood. I was already in 4H, creeping along, trying to stay on the road. It didn’t occur to me the creek might have overflowed. As I was climbing an incline, water came over the hood. I knew the road was just a few yards ahead, but I couldn’t hesitate or I’d get stuck. I pushed through, made it out of the water, and got home safe. I was lucky, and it definitely reinforced my trust in my Toyota.
A 2003 Tundra has saved me. Head-on with a semi back in 2019 at 50 mph. Fractured my sternum, blew my pants button, and broke off the gas and brake pedals with my feet. The radio dials all flew off, and the front wheels and engine went up to the firewall. Topper glass was all blown out.

That’s crazy! Glad you made it out of that situation. Was there any damage to the Taco from the water?
Not a bit, I was honestly shocked. After the adrenaline wore off, I thought I might be replacing a vapor-locked V6, but the truck was fine. I got under there with a grease gun after things dried up, and it was like nothing happened.
