I’m trying to figure out how to disable the speed limit warning on my Avalon. It keeps showing up, and I want to turn it off. Anyone know how to get rid of it for good?
My 2021 Avalon doesn’t have that issue. I’m thinking it could be a setting in your car’s system.
Go to the home screen, then navigate to Settings. From there, look for ‘Warning settings.’ You can either turn off the speed limit warning or adjust how much over the limit it should trigger.
Just slow down, and it won’t show up.

Haha, that’s one way to deal with it.
I’ve driven over 100mph in my 2020 XLE Hybrid Premium, and I’ve never seen that message pop up.
You’re likely going around 78-79 mph. On most US highways, that’s about 8-9 mph over the speed limit. That’s pretty good for an ‘Italian tune-up’ for about 30 minutes. My Gen 3 Avalon feels so smooth at that speed.

Some roads, like in the intermountain West, even have an 80mph speed limit. I’ve seen a few in Texas that go up to 85. I get what you mean. My 2003 Avalon could cruise at 90mph+ so quietly and smoothly. My 2013 Avalon is nearly the same once the suspension and tires are right. I mostly prefer to drive slow now, though.

I’ve got a 2006 Bentley, and it’s just as smooth as the Avalon. It’s incredible how it keeps going. Once, an ambulance passed me, and I didn’t even hear it. I also have a 2014 Avalon, and I think it’s one of the best cars ever made. If you’ve got 15-20k to spend, the W12 Bentleys are like a souped-up Avalon.

Out near El Paso, they should let you go up to 100mph. There’s nothing out there for miles.

Out on Route 40, it’s so flat and open. I once drove my 1990 Toyota Corolla at 120mph with my 55-year-old mom in the passenger seat back in the ‘90s. I got pulled over by the highway patrol, but the officer just told me, ‘I know there’s nothing out here, but keep it down,’ and let me go with just a warning.
@EmmanuelBrown
That’s nowhere near the RPMs you need for an Italian tune-up. The engine probably thinks it’s only going 20mph. The RPMs are only at around 2k.

I agree. I’ve heard that you need to go around 70mph for 30 minutes to do a proper tune-up. But I guess it depends on how you drive. I’ve done some real ‘Italian tune-ups’ on some of my modified cars, especially the ones without a catalytic converter. I had to do a lot of revving before emissions came off.
134 kilometers per hour is 83.264 miles per hour.
Is this one of the last model-year Avalons? If you’re concerned about speeding, Toyota has been tracking speed in their vehicles. You might want to check the fine print about warranty coverage, just in case it’s a factor. I’ve read about warranty denials on certain GR models for similar reasons. But if you’re still in your warranty period, be aware—anything like tampering with the system might void it.
I’ve never had an issue with my 2021 Avalon. I’ve taken it up to 110mph without any warning showing up.

Just ignore the warning on the screen and use the speed gauge instead.
This warning would drive me crazy. Does it beep, or does it just pop up on the screen? I’d probably just stick a note over it to avoid getting annoyed.
