Had a fantastic drive through the forest and backroads, and I managed to get the best MPG yet. Anyone else working on maxing out their efficiency? It’s actually quite fun
Beautiful beast!

Yesssss .
Nice
I love not pumping gas as often! The Venza was my first hybrid, and I had no expectations, but now I’m a hybrid fan.
Well, done .
The FOMO I get when I see these posts lol
My 21 Venza averages 35 in the summer and around 30ish in colder months.

Damn. Sorry to hear that. You in a colder climate? Minnesota or somewhere?
@Crystal_Cherry
Not even that cold, I’m in WA State. But once mid-October hits, my MPG drops significantly. I’m thinking of trading it in for a new Gen non-hybrid CRV since the MPG isn’t too different.
@TimothyPerez
Wow. I’m in rural Northern California, close to southern Oregon. I wonder why your numbers are so low .

I get you. I’ve never gotten anywhere near these crazy MPG numbers with my 2024 Limited, except for maybe when coasting downhill. Right now, I’m getting high 20s-low 30s, and maybe mid 30s in summer if I’m lucky. I don’t drive aggressively, and I’m in the southern SF Bay Area, so it’s not cold here.
With hybrids, I’ve found that short drives hurt MPG. I do mostly short drives, and the engine needs to warm up at the start. The EPA doesn’t really explain this, nor does Toyota. It’s still a good car, but those crazy MPG numbers people talk about can be frustrating.
@Chancey
I knew about cold temps hurting MPG but didn’t realize short drives were also a factor. I live in a Tri City area, and most drives are 10-15 minutes. So that explains a lot.
I feel like hybrids get overhyped in terms of efficiency, but I really do like the car’s looks and feel. Just wish I could get 40+ MPG like others.
@TimothyPerez
Yeah, those advertised numbers don’t match for people like us with lots of short drives. When I go on longer highway trips, I get 35-40 MPG, which is way better. I did some research and found that’s the issue with short trips. I’m not driving for 30+ minutes just to hit the EPA estimates. I guess it’s the same for all cars though. Anyway, the Venza is great otherwise.
@Chancey
Sorry about that
We’re getting 38, even in the peak winter. We’ve had it a couple of months now. Hoping to hit 40+ consistently when the weather warms up.
What’s the range for a full tank on these? I love my ’18 Clarity and I can get up to 800 miles with its 7-gallon tank in spring and summer, about 600 in winter. But it’s not great for road trips. I’ve seen these Venzas and they look so sleek!
@Sai
Gen2 Venzas have a 14.5-gallon tank, but only about 11.5 gallons are usable before the vehicle gets picky. I get 35-40 MPG on highways, so the range is usually 450-550 miles.

Thanks for the info! I’d love to grab a used one for weekend drives and summer road trips. They look fantastic.
@Sai
Up until the end of the year, I drove 125 miles a day over a mountain pass. I’ve put 80K on my ’21 and 27K on my ’24. They’re great road vehicles.
