How many bags of mulch can you really fit in a gen 5 … is this too much weight … anyone else try this

Just found out the gen 5 can hold at least 40 bags of mulch … has anyone else loaded theirs up like this … wondering if it’s safe or if I pushed it too far

Sure it fits but what’s the suspension gonna say about that

Payload is around 1000-1100lbs … mulch bags weigh 30 to 50 lbs depending on how wet they are … that’s 100-900lbs over without passengers … bet it’s sitting real low

@Larkin
I always explain payload like this … how many big guys can you stuff in the back seat before it’s a problem

Saw a CRV going 65mph with the back sagging … I can only imagine what it looked like inside

Just take two trips … this seems really unsafe

Never thought about it being unsafe … is it just because stopping takes longer

Not just that … suspension could get messed up … blocks the rear window which is illegal in some places … handling gets worse … and in a bad crash all that weight could hurt someone

@nelly
Exactly … slam on the brakes or get hit and 1000lbs of mulch is flying into the front seat

If the brakes even work with all that extra weight

Or just rent the truck from Lowes or Home Depot … it’s like 19 bucks for the first 90 minutes

Why spend money when you can just go twice

@nelly
Sometimes it’s faster and less messy … depends how far you’re going

Then why get a Rav4 if you don’t want it to get dirty

RIP your suspension

Lol good to know … I fit 10ft 2x4s in mine once … just barely went onto the passenger seat

Come on now … it can “fit” 40 bags of cement too … doesn’t mean you should do it

Trailers are 20 bucks to rent for an hour … way easier to load and no mess inside … people who do this as a flex aren’t the brightest

Didn’t this get posted before … same comments about suspension and everything

Seen it a few times in the Prius forum … always funny
