How often should I change the engine coolant on my Toyota?

I want to know how often I should change the engine coolant on my Toyota. Is it possible to get advice on when to replace the coolant in a Toyota while taking time intervals or mileage into account? Thanks.

For most Toyota vehicles, it’s recommended to change the engine coolant (antifreeze) every 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. Follow your vehicle’s specific maintenance schedule outlined in the owner’s manual for precise intervals.

I’d simply drain the block and radiator and call it a day. I don’t think a flush is necessary, not even dealers bother with flushing the system. I think they will probably just drain and fill. When I did mine, I spent around 50 dollars. I recommend getting two gallons of pre-diluted fluid and a hose to connect to the block and radiator drains. I already had a radiator funnel, but I had to spend around 20 dollars on it. There are plenty of helpful tutorials on YouTube.

Just wanted to share my experience. When I did it, my mileage was at 55k and the coolant appeared to be in good condition when I drained it. Maybe it wasn’t necessary to do it so early, but I couldn’t resist. I was feeling a bit restless, it was pouring outside, and I had the whole house to myself.

For most Toyotas, the engine coolant should be changed every 30,000 to 50,000 miles or every 2 to 5 years, depending on the specific model and coolant type. Refer to your vehicle’s owner manual for exact recommendations.
