I imported a 2004 JDM Land Cruiser 100 series and will be in Tokyo this week. I only have one master key and want to get a spare from a Toyota dealership. However, I’m having trouble finding email addresses to order one in advance, especially since dealerships are closed from August 10-17, right as we return.
I’m trying to contact the Shibuya dealership near our hotel but only see a phone number on their site. Can anyone advise if it’s possible to order parts from other sources, or if Toyota dealerships in Japan handle sales, parts, and service similarly to those in North America?
Hello! It’s great that you’re being proactive about getting a spare key for your JDM Land Cruiser. In Japan, Toyota dealerships typically handle sales, parts, and service similarly to those in North America, but communication can sometimes be challenging if you’re not fluent in Japanese. Unfortunately, it’s common for Japanese dealerships not to list email addresses for public contact, so calling is often the best option. If you prefer not to call, you might consider reaching out to a service like JDM parts importers or specialist companies that can assist with sourcing and shipping parts internationally. Another option is to visit the dealership in person when you’re in Tokyo. They can usually cut and program a key on the spot if they have the right equipment, but it’s best to check first, especially with the upcoming closure.
Visit any dealer to place an order for the parts; if they are in stock, the dealer will receive them in two business days. This is presuming that the parts are identical to those found in a domestic model; if the part is exclusive to export, local dealers won’t be able to source it.
