ICS Malfunction and Check Engine Light… Anyone else having this issue?

I keep getting the ICS Malfunction and check engine warnings on my 2018 Camry. The first time this happened, I took it to the dealer, and they said the issue was with the fuel injectors. They cleaned them up, and the warnings went away, but now the alerts are back, and it’s only been about 2 months. Can’t believe the injectors could already be dirty again. I also ran another diagnostic, and the codes I got were P008A:00 and P107A:2A. Anyone else run into this? What should I do next?

ICS has to do with the Intelligent Clearance Sonar… basically, it’s the parking sensors. If you don’t rely on those for parking, you could probably ignore it for now. But yeah, check engine light is a different story. The codes you got, P008A:00 and P107A:2A, seem to be related to fuel pressure issues.

@Ashton
Thanks, I don’t really use the parking sensors much. Do you think it could actually be a fuel pressure problem if they already cleaned the injectors a couple of months ago?

Could be, but it’s weird for it to come back that fast. Might be worth checking if there’s a leak somewhere or if one of the sensors is acting up. Fuel systems can be tricky like that.

@Ashton
Good point, I’ll have the mechanic take a closer look. Thanks for the advice!

What exactly does ICS mean? I keep seeing it in this forum and IDK what it stands for.

ICS is short for Intelligent Clearance Sonar. It’s basically the system that helps with parking by detecting objects around the car.

@Ashton
Oh, got it. So, if it’s not working, does that just mean the parking sensors are messed up?

Yep, exactly. It won’t affect the way the car drives, just the parking assist stuff.

Have you tried resetting the system by disconnecting the battery for a bit? Sometimes that can clear the warning, at least temporarily.

I haven’t tried that yet. I’ll give it a shot and see if it helps. Thanks for the suggestion!

@Zariah
No problem. Let us know if it works.

Disconnected the battery, but the codes popped back up after a couple of days. Guess it didn’t really solve the problem.

Bummer. Probably worth getting it checked out again then. Might be more than just a sensor issue.

You mentioned the injectors were cleaned, but did they actually check the fuel pressure? Sometimes cleaning doesn’t fix the underlying problem if the pressure regulator or fuel pump is acting up.

Not sure if they checked that, they just said it was the injectors. I’ll ask them to look at the fuel pressure next time. Thanks!

FYI, I had a similar issue on my car (not a Camry tho). Turned out to be a bad fuel pressure sensor. Replaced it and haven’t had a problem since.

Interesting, I’ll definitely mention that to the mechanic. Appreciate the heads up!
