I currently have a 2021 Highlander Hybrid and am considering upgrading. I have a chance to buy a 2024 Highlander Limited in the next few days, but I know the 2025 models are coming soon. Is there any real value in waiting for the 2025, or should I just go for the 2024 now? I plan to keep it for many years, so I’m not worried about resale value. Thanks for any advice!
Why would you trade a 2021 for a 2024 or 2025? There’s no big difference between them.
Toyota made some changes to the front passenger seat in 2022 that let you adjust the tilt and height, like the driver’s seat. I often sit in the passenger seat on trips, and it’s uncomfortable without these adjustments. I’ve tried cushions, but nothing really works, so I’m upgrading for comfort.
Same question here: why upgrade if there’s not much change? Only makes sense if you’re in an accident or something.
Again, it’s all about the passenger seat. Toyota changed the adjustability on the 2022 models, which I really need for comfort on longer trips.
Maybe rent one first and take it on a short trip. See if it really feels better for you.
What’s wrong with your current one?
The 2021 doesn’t have the adjustable passenger seat that lets you tilt and raise it. This wasn’t added until the 2022 model.
What trim do you have? I have a 2019 XLE (non-hybrid), and I don’t have the same issue with the passenger seat.
It’s the Platinum trim.
Interesting. Maybe Toyota adjusted things differently for certain years or trims.
If you can afford it and it makes your trips more comfortable, go for it! You might also want to look at the RX350. The seats are really adjustable and super comfortable in the luxury trims.
Couldn’t you just replace the seat? Might be cheaper than a whole new car.
I checked with the dealership, and they said it can’t really be done. It would need rewiring and reprogramming to work with the car’s computer.
Dealership might just be telling you that to push a new car sale.
Go for the new one if it makes you happy! It’s funny how people put the Highlander and RAV4 on such a high pedestal. Guess everyone needs something to work for.
I like getting new cars too, but if your 2021 runs well, why rush? I keep mine for at least 8-10 years before upgrading. But it’s your money, so do what you want!
If you want an upgrade, maybe look at a Sienna instead of a new Highlander.
