Is My 2nd Gen Ugly?

It has almost 300k on it and still runs like a Swiss watch, but it feels like it needs a new look.

Avalon

It looks like a tuner. It’s a strange look for a 3.0-liter, extra-large sedan. Avalons are not fast or sporty. One of the biggest complaints of that generation was that they were underpowered. I have a 2004. It isn’t a total dog, but it will never win any races. It’s a comfortable grandma car with great reliability. I’ve never thought of it as a ‘good-looking’ car and certainly not one that needs an appearance upgrade. It’s essentially a stretched-out Toyota Camry with some interior upgrades.

If the wheels were chrome, it would give it more of a luxury look, but not with the thin 5 or 6-spoke racing wheels. It needs a more solid wheel (like factory) or a thinner 20-spoke. I’d look for a set of factory chrome wheels for it. You should definitely paint the hood to match the body; it looks like a collision repair.

I am very biased towards Avalons. I love them. They’re all good cars and they look great

This one looks amazing. I love the color scheme of the car. It’s unique. Enjoy it!

I think mismatched hoods typically look like you got into a wreck and replaced it from a salvage yard. I don’t see the need to advertise your engine code, but otherwise, it’s an Avalon and they are good-looking vehicles. Some of my taste =/= some of your taste, and that’s okay. We obviously have the same taste in vehicles.

Yes.

Yes.

Where’d the original wheels go?

I just posted mine.

It has 300k, so it has a right to look tired. My Corolla is about to pass 400k, and it looks worse than yours. I’m starting to weld the rust holes up. The easiest way to make it look nicer is to run it through the wash a couple of times a week.
