Saw a sponsored ad on Instagram. Looks like a Forester Hybrid and maybe a redesigned 2026 Outback. What do you all think?
Probably the Hybrid and Wilderness versions of the Forester. The Hybrid is expected mid-year as a 2025 model, and the Wilderness has already been seen without camouflage. A reveal seems close.
Subaru usually reveals the Outback in New York. They did in 2010, 2013, 2015, 2018, 2020, and 2023. Automakers don’t usually bring big reveals to Chicago anymore.
@Bradas
The ad clearly says two SUVs. It’s about time for the new model year update. It’s both.

Forester and Ascent are Subaru’s only SUVs. The Outback is a wagon.

Not anymore. Subaru is making the Outback an SUV and dropping the wagon version.
@Graydon
Did they confirm that, or is this just speculation based on some camouflaged test vehicle?

It’s happening. Tons of articles and spy shots of the new model confirm it.
@Graydon
Dealerships are already posting about the Outback changes.
@Graydon
What proof do these articles have? A camouflaged vehicle doesn’t confirm much.
Just because something is repeated everywhere doesn’t mean it’s true. Subaru hasn’t confirmed a thing.

Dealerships are preparing for it. Subaru wouldn’t add another SUV, they already have too many. They’ve said multiple times that the Outback is changing.
@Graydon
Dealerships mostly go off rumors too. Subaru saying the Outback is getting an update doesn’t mean they’re turning it into an SUV.
Automakers don’t usually share future plans with dealers. If this was confirmed, we’d have more concrete leaks.
@Zia
It’s happening, man. Just wait and see.

That camo test vehicle everyone assumes is the Outback actually looks more like a new Ascent.
@Graydon
Subaru has called the Outback an SUV since at least 2015.

Call it a wagon all you want, but Subaru’s marketing calls it an SUV.
@PaulMagnet
It’s built on a car platform. Calling it an SUV is just marketing.
Probably just the Forester Wilderness.

Didn’t the Forester Wilderness already exist? What’s new?

They updated the body style for 2025. I doubt they’d get rid of the Wilderness trim with the redesign.
