The 300 series seems like a big upgrade over the 200, but it’s a shame it’s not available in the US.
It’s too bad they aren’t sold in the US.

Yes, but the 700h Overtrail is like a gourmet hamburger. I want the GR300 steak!
@Aman
Fair point.
@Aman
I hear a lot about the GR300, but what’s the actual difference? Is it just the engine being diesel?

I’m not a fan of diesel. The GR300 has a better exterior and clearance, plus the layout inside is nicer. It also has e-KDSS. The Overtrail model brings the LX closer to the GR300.

Our engines are petrol V6 twin-turbo. Australians are the ones who mostly use diesel.

Starting at $106,850.
I just googled, and the 2021 LC300 was retailing starting at $112k. I thought it was closer to $90k. My mistake. Sorry.
@Toryn
The 2021 Land Cruiser and Lexus LX were actually very close in price: $87k vs $92k. That’s likely why Toyota decided to only sell the 300 series in the US as a Lexus. People here would likely turn away from the price if it had the ‘Toyota’ badge.

No kidding, I often make fun of people complaining about there being no 300 series in the US. I think it’s mostly about the Lexus badge, not the actual car.
@Tao
I openly make fun of them. These people don’t actually want the 300 here. They just want something they can’t have to feel exclusive.

My sister drives an LX600. It’s not really the same vehicle. I also think the GR has more off-road features.
@Nova
The core of both vehicles is the same—they’re both J300s. The main differences are in the suspension (which can be tuned like the Land Cruiser’s) and some exterior design. The exterior doesn’t really affect performance. The LX450 from the 80 series was similar in that the suspension was softer but still had that classic solid front axle ride.
FJA300 GR Sport is my dream car.

For real. How do we kick the person who posted this out of the group? That was violent.
Toyota US - ‘NA doesn’t want premium off-roaders’
NA buyers - buying Raptors, TRXs, and Fox Silverados at six-figure prices.

I came here to ask this. I don’t understand why the NA market gets ignored when there are so many off-road enthusiasts and suburban moms wanting to buy $100k 4x4s.
@esleystanley
Because everyone here bought those cars instead of the Land Cruiser. It’s easier to justify spending $90-100K on a ‘nicer’ vehicle with more features, more power, and sometimes better fuel economy. A Land Cruiser is nice at 150K, but it doesn’t make up for lacking modern features and tech, especially when it’s nearly 100K at the dealership.
@Grey
Does the LC250 not have good technology? I’m amazed by its capabilities.
