Is this 2025 Outback Wilderness deal worth it?

I’m planning to buy this Outback Wilderness on Thursday in crystal black silica. I think it’s a fair deal, but with California’s sales tax, the price is closer to the middle of the invoice and MSRP. What do you all think?

Is that sales tax calculated before the discount? It should be applied after the discount, not before.

I paid around $40k flat for my 2024 Wilderness. But I live in Nevada.

That’s a solid price. Maybe there’s a little wiggle room, but overall it’s a decent deal.

Can we talk about how much value you get with this? Any other car with the same features would cost at least $60k.

Subaru really gives you the most bang for your buck while still keeping quality high. They make unique cars and have a great community behind them. I just got a WRX TR and realized it’s one of the few AWD sedans with a manual transmission still available. The simplicity and reliability of their cars are unmatched.

Destination charges are such a scam. Why do we, the customers, have to pay for the car to get to the dealership? If I buy something online, like a guitar, shipping to the store is free. Why is it different for cars?

@Payton
Every car brand does this. It’s just how the system works. They have to pay the drivers somehow. :sweat_smile:

Yeah, but it’s still shady. It’s just a trick to advertise lower prices and then sneak in extra fees. And don’t get me started on tire disposal fees!

@Payton
Or those insane doc fees! In Pennsylvania, it can go up to $422. It’s ridiculous.

Are you financing? Is the 2.9% rate still available?

I haven’t gotten that far yet, but I have good credit, so I should qualify.

Any tips for negotiating a better financing rate?

I think 2.9% is available until the end of the month. I’ve also seen 1.9%, but I’m not sure about the loan term.

If it’s like the 2022 model, skip the LED upgrade. It’s just one bulb, and you can change it yourself for way cheaper.

I think those upgrades are done at the factory or docks, not by dealers. Either way, it’s not worth the money for just vanity lights.

I got the same model (MSRP $44,088) for $39,200. You might be able to negotiate a bit more since a lot of these are sitting on lots right now. Also, double-check those sales tax numbers; something seems off. And absolutely refuse any dealer add-ons they try to push.

Team used Outback here!

Pretty sure some dealerships sneak in extra add-ons that aren’t listed online. Be careful.

You can probably shave off that destination charge. I got a 2025 Touring XT for $41k OTD, so you’ve got some room to negotiate.
