Is this a good deal on 2021 Tundra TRD Pro Purchase

The dealer is using the “no haggle, one price” approach. They’re asking $56,300 for a truck with 29,000 miles. It has a clean CARFAX, one previous owner, and all maintenance done through Toyota. The truck is Toyota Gold Certified. It seems to be about $4,000 to $5,000 higher than similar ones I’ve seen. I’d appreciate any feedback! Thanks in advance!

In my view, opting for a TRD Pro puts you in a tough spot due to its high demand and reputation. While they’re excellent and reliable trucks, they still require maintenance, fuel, insurance, and have a limited lifespan. I find the price excessive just for the TRD Pro badge and hood scoop. I’d recommend saving the money, buying an SR5, and customizing it yourself to save $10,000 to $15,000. Ultimately, it’s your money, if you see the value, go for it. If the price shocks you, it might be best to walk away. The novelty of the truck will fade quickly, but the payments will last longer. Just my two cents, good luck, it’s a beautiful Tundra.

shit, the sport comes w the hood scoop too! i paid $44k OTD for my 2021 sport with 9k miles on it december of last year. love the truck

Are you sure someone didn’t add the scoop? I never knew they come from the factory on anything other than trd pro

Sports 100% come with a scoop. I have one

The hood scoop is a staple for TRD Sport in any model.

I bought a 2020 Pro in white, and honestly, it’s the first vehicle I’ve owned where that initial excitement hasn’t faded. I still love it just as much. Plus, the special Pro colors tend to hold their value better than other Tundras, making it somewhat of a collector’s item. I’d say go for it, as long as you can manage your bills and still save or invest. You can always resell it later for a price close to what you paid. To me, it doesn’t seem like much of a risk.

That’s the lunar rock premium. It’s typical for that color to come with a higher price.

Haha, that’s so true. I have been looking at lunar rocks for a couple of years, RAV4s for my wife and a 4Runner or Tundra for myself, and I have noticed they’re consistently more expensive than the same models in other colors. They’re still so appealing that I’m considering paying the premium.

Personally I think the TRD designation is kinda silly. I understand it’s a trim level, but Toyota Racing Division? Give me a break

And the pros always have less options than the 1794 and platinum.

“Good deal” vs “fair deal”

No, it’s not a good deal. It’s a fair price for the truck imo if it checks out.

What makes the TRD Pro so in-demand? I understand it’s a $7-8k upgrade, but I feel like I’m missing something about why it’s so sought after.

It features a completely different suspension, unique wheels, a distinct interior, and some performance engine upgrades for extra power.

I bought the same pickup back in 2022 with 2,000 fewer miles and it was “certified,” one owner, with all service done at the dealership, and I paid $62k. It’s good to see the price has dropped, though it’s now two years older. Hope that helps.

buy it if you can afford it, you won’t find a better truck new or used anywhere.

I bought a 2024 Lunar Rock SR5 Sport and added a used Pro suspension, and I paid less than that for it, lol.

Maybe I am missing something, but I don’t see the value in this truck at that price. While I’m just as into TRD Pros as anyone, I really love the new trim and powertrain of the Gen 2 Tundras even more.

Good luck, and it’s a beautiful truck!

56k gets you a brand new truck with a full warranty.

That’s true. I paid more for my 2021 TRD Pro because reliability is priceless. The new ones just don’t hold up as well; they seem like they’re made with cheaper materials.

I paid 41.5k for my 21 sr5 4x4 with 28k on the clock in January, seems more than a bit high to me. For that price you should be able to almost get out the door for a 24 sr5 4x4.
