I’m looking at a 2.0 Supra. Is this a good deal, or should I save up for the 3.0?
The 2.0 is fine, but if you’re serious about getting a Supra, go for the 3.0. It’s a way better engine, and I think you’ll enjoy the car a lot more in the long run. If you’re considering the 2.0 to save money, you might want to check out the GR86 instead—it’s a similar price range and platform. Everyone I know who got a 2.0 ended up upgrading to the 3.0 later. Save yourself the trouble and just wait a bit longer to get the 3.0.
@Maxwell
It’s like choosing an EcoBoost Mustang over the V8. Not really the same experience.
@Maxwell
I’ve had my 2.0 for almost 4 years, and I’ve done a lot of mods to it. Not everyone needs a track car or something just for highways. It’s been great for me.

Can you explain it simply? Is the 2.0 good for just daily driving and looking cool? I think all Supras look awesome.
@Skyler
If it’s just about looks, then yeah, the 2.0 works. But if you care about how it drives, save up for the 3.0.
@Skyler
It’s a solid daily driver. I average 27 mpg and still have fun with it. A transmission tune makes it even better, and with a few mods, it’s reasonably quick. People like to hate on the 2.0, but it’s got plenty of power for most situations. It’s not a slow car.
@Rey
Just because you love your 2.0 doesn’t mean it was the smarter buy compared to the 3.0.
If you’re okay with the I4, go for it. It’s a great car. Don’t listen to anyone telling you to just get an 86 instead. Test drive both and choose what feels right for you.
Is this a 4-cylinder or 6-cylinder?

Those wheels suggest it’s a 2.0 model.

The title says it’s a 2.0.

True, but when you see it out there, the wheels make it easy to spot the 2.0.
The I4 is decent. You should test drive it.

I test drove one because it was the only Supra available, and I liked it. But after that, I found a 3.0 and bought it instead. The 2.0 is good, but knowing the 3.0 exists made it hard to settle. The 2.0 suits some people’s needs, though.
@Cortland
Toyota did a smart job with the specs. The 2.0 appeals to those who just want the look, while the 3.0 is for the true Supra fans.
@Cortland
Can you share more differences between the 2.0 and 3.0 besides power?

It’s mainly the power and the sound. On my short drive in the 2.0, I didn’t notice many other differences. But once I got into the 3.0, the extra power was immediately obvious. The cars feel identical otherwise. I’ve heard the 2.0 handles better in corners because it’s lighter, but I didn’t get to test that myself. Fuel efficiency is about the same for both, which surprised me.
@Cortland
So no regrets about getting the 3.0?

None at all. I love it and plan to keep it forever. It’s my go-to car unless I need more seats or have to tow something. Even with several cars, the Supra is the easiest one to justify driving.
