Forget collector prices on that nice car stereo. Most car collectors prefer only the original parts that came with the vehicle. A new stereo may be lovely, but it replaces the original, and collectors prefer things to be factory fresh. Furthermore, new technology quickly becomes outdated, so what is interesting today may be dull tomorrow for collectors. The only exception would be if the stereo was really rare or came with a special edition automobile, which is exceptional. If you are selling a car to a collector, keep the original stereo.
No way you should buy a 2001 at $17,900. Does not matter if its a collectible, I wouldn’t pay 18k for that, personally.
