Is Toyota assisting in Land Cruiser 1958 discounts?

I am seeing a very consistent advertised discounting of Land Cruiser 1958 of $3500 - $4000. Does anyone know if Toyota is providing $$ to dealers to incentivize getting these sold? Is the new 4Runner vehicle that are just arriving lowering the demand for LC 1958?

The discounts you’re seeing are from the MSRP, which isn’t the price that the dealers are paying Toyota. The amount the dealer bought the car from Toyota for (the invoice price) is substantially lower, which is why dealers are able to reduce the price and still potentially make a profit.

I have an understanding of the wholesale/retail pricing. I was asking if Toyota was offering money to the dealers as an incentive to offer more attractive pricing in order to get the units sold that are sitting in inventory.

As a salesman for Toyota, $3,500 to $4,000 off msrp would be the invoice price. Yes the 1958 does take a long time to get it moved out of the lot.

Does invoice price => price dealer paid Toyota for vehicle? What’s generally the profit margin you’ve seen per vehicle?

I think Toyota is making a mistake not letting people build the 1958s. I prefer 1958 round lights but want all the lux the First Edition came with or at least let people choose premium package. Unfortunately you cannot add anything worthwhile to the 1958 and have to hope the dealer at least included leather seats (I have dogs so leather is better). I also think they should bring back the tan interior so people have an option for lighter brighter interior. I think they would move more cars.

Just put the round headlights in whatever trim you like along with the computer module. The thin headlights take up the same amount of space, they just have a spacer to accommodate fitment. The round headlights do not have a spacer.

@Wynn
Really?!! Had no idea I could change the headlights. I’m curious what you mean by computer module? Is there a specific module for the headlights? (Sorry if this a weird question.)

Looks like there’s a YouTube video for it.

They did the video for the views and to sell their kit so I’m sure you can Google the part numbers and make your own kit cheaper.

First Editions have round headlights.

Probably just supply and demand. Time will tell how dependable these are but I felt like these should’ve stated at 50. With the economy tanking it will get worst.

The only discounts I’m seeing are only for 2024 MY. 2025 MY are still at or above MSRP.

I think that it’s a combo of 4Runner coming in at a lower price point AND the excitement rubbing off. All the initial ‘omg new LC’ buyers got one. Launch hype is over now just regular people.

I think it’s also YouTube videos highlighting that it’s a Prado. Not hating but if someone wants a LC, they should find a lightly used 200 series. I would pay upwards of 60-80k for a low mileage one.
