I recently got a 2022 Corolla SE with just 3000 miles, basically new. Unfortunately, I’ve been rear-ended twice in the past few years, which has driven my insurance rates way up. Progressive currently charges me $300 per month, which is out of my budget, and most other quotes I’ve found aren’t much cheaper. When I mentioned this to the Toyota dealership, they offered me insurance through Toyota for $200 per month. Has anyone here used Toyota Insurance before? What’s your experience?
Toyota Insurance acts as an agency; they sell policies underwritten by Farmers and its subsidiaries like 21st Century and Toggle. Farmers is a decent provider, so Toyota Insurance should be fine, but you might want to check with an independent agent who can give you access to more carriers.
Toyota’s insurance is just an agency placing business with Farmers subsidiaries. If you’re in California, their product isn’t much different from other agencies working with Farmers.
They’re just another agency. You’d likely get better options by contacting a local independent agent who has access to a variety of insurers.
I’ve worked with Toyota Insurance and found it to be one of the most affordable options, especially for comprehensive coverage. As an insurance broker representing multiple companies, I can say it’s worth considering. That said, pricing and coverage may vary by state.

How do you rate Toggle’s customer service? I’ve seen a lot of negative reviews and feel hesitant about switching.

I had a claim with Toyota Insurance on my new Corvette. It was smooth—they called me the next day and paid more than the car’s value after it was deemed a total loss. Farmers handled everything efficiently, including paying out within days. Pricing-wise, they beat most other quotes I got, but rates could change over time.
@Whitney
I shopped around and found Toyota Insurance to be the cheapest at $120 for full coverage. Just bought a 2024 Corolla Cross and couldn’t be happier with the price and the car.
Toyota Insurance isn’t worth it in my opinion. You need to check the fine print because they might not cover as much as you expect.

What exactly do they not cover compared to other insurers?
@Lilnim
I’ll share more once my settlement is finalized, but for now, I’d suggest reading every detail carefully before switching.

They cover what you choose. I switched from AAA to Toyota Insurance and got better coverage for less. No accidents or tickets in 15 years.
Toyota Insurance has been great for me. They offer exactly what I need, and the price is unbeatable so far.
While getting a quote with Toyota Insurance, I noticed they auto-filled 18 for when I got my license, which isn’t true for me and couldn’t be changed. Weird experience.

They did the same for me but filled in 19 instead. Definitely odd.
Had a terrible experience with Toyota Insurance. After a minor accident where the other driver was at fault, they were slow to process my claim and demanded I pay an $1800 excess if they couldn’t contact the other driver. I ended up resolving it myself by contacting the other driver directly, which should’ve been Toyota’s job.
@Asher
Sounds like you didn’t have uninsured motorist coverage. That’s an optional add-on and could’ve helped in your situation.
After a year with Toyota Insurance, they increased my premium from $150 to $220, blaming overall customer complaints. I’m looking for a new provider.
Toyota Insurance was a nightmare for me. After a minor driveway accident, the repairs took months with zero communication. They switched repair shops, delayed updates, and offered no real help. Even when they finally provided a rental car, it was only for two weeks, though repairs took over four months. Never again.
Had an accident in September, and Toyota Insurance has been slow to process everything. It’s been months, and my car still isn’t ready.
