Why do people say Toyotas are super reliable when there’s no time they’ve been a top 10 company for reliability?
This feels like trolling. Even a quick search shows Toyota and Lexus have consistently been in the top 10 for reliability for years.

Being rated isn’t the same as actually being reliable. Those surveys can be pretty inaccurate. But instead of addressing my point, you just dismissed my question.
@Caiden
So what’s your source for saying they’re not reliable? Are you basing it on personal experience or something else?

Yeah, it’s from my personal experience. I’ve owned a few Toyotas, and they didn’t hold up well over time.
I’ll admit upfront that I’m a BMW fan. I own three of them, and I maintain them all myself, so I know they’re not the most reliable cars after about 5 years.
That said, Toyotas can last a long time with proper maintenance. I’ve worked on a few, and part of their reliability comes from smart design and better-quality materials that hold up longer.
When you compare them to brands like GM, Nissan, or even Volkswagen, Toyota stands out as more reliable. Of course, they’re not perfect—no brand is—but they are generally better.
I love BMW, but Toyota is definitely more reliable in my experience.
@Jaime
I’ve owned several Toyotas and worked on quite a few as well. In my experience, once they pass 100,000 miles, they start needing frequent repairs.
