I stopped by a 4X4 shop today to check prices for a lift and tires. I’m new to lifted trucks, so this is all a learning experience. I’m thinking about the Rough Country 3.5 lift and probably going with either Toyo Open Country RT Trail or Falken AT4W.
What will this do to your gas mileage?

You’ll probably lose a bit. But hey, the attention you get from others will make up for it.

For sure, it won’t help at all.

Expect a loss of about 6 mpg.
You came to the right place for alternatives… Just tell me you haven’t bought anything yet?
Head to tundras.com… They have tons of info and threads about tire sizes and lifts.

Those forums can be tricky. Here is a great link for wheel and tire info.
Give them a break, they just said they’re new to lifting trucks.

No joke, I didn’t think I needed a Ph.D. on lift kits already!

Don’t feel bad. I quit asking when someone ribbed me for getting the 5.5 bed.
@Shannon
Seriously, what were they thinking?

This forum is filled with experts.
I got my first Tundra used with a Rough Country 3.5 lift and 35’s. I didn’t realize how bad it was till I swapped in a TRD lift. The turning radius was awful with Rough Country compared to factory TRD; it felt useless in parking lots. I’m going lighter with my tire setup this time, ditching the heavy ones for something lighter.
You drop $65,000 on a truck and go for the cheap suspension? I don’t get it.

So what do you suggest then?

Go with ICON , I got the stage 5 with Billet UCA and it rides smoother then it did on the factory suspension

Just keep everything stock.

Why not go for the Toyota 3" lift? Did you decide against it at the last minute?
