Just picked up a 40th Anniversary 4Runner…

Traded in my Jeep for that 4Runner life.

Classy choice.

Thanks  I really wanted the TRD Pro, but it was a bit out of reach. This was the next best thing.

Super classy. Nice pickup.

The tri-color racing stripes—yellow, orange, and red—go way back to the off-road racing days with Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart. His Toyota trucks in the '80s made that look iconic. It became a symbol of determination and success, and now it’s a cool nod to Toyota’s racing history.

Anyone know the full story behind the stripes and those colors? Is it just an 80s throwback, or is there a deeper connection to the 4Runner?

Those red, orange, and yellow stripes go all the way back to Ivan ‘Ironman’ Stewart and PPI Racing. The look was designed by Rollin ‘Molly’ Sanders, who also did branding work for Kawasaki, Yamaha, and even the Lexus logo. Toyota hired him in the early '80s to create a signature motorsports livery for their IMSA, IndyCar, SCCA, and off-road teams. That design stuck and became a fan favorite.

Looks awesome!

Fantastic :+1:t2: Love this one.

Those 40th Anniversary wheels are :fire:

Would love a set for my Barcelona Red ORP!

Smart move.

She’s a beauty!

Totally love those stripes!

Hey OP, if you don’t mind me asking—what’d you pay for it? Was it used? CPO? I might have to return my company RAV4 soon, and I’m making a list of options to consider.
